Climate Actors for Innovations and Sustainability (CAIS), an environmental NGO committed to promoting climate change adaptation and mitigation has partnered with Ekimogun Youths Connect (EYC), a non-profit youth organisation that unites Ondo sons and daughters across the globe.
This collaboration reflects a shared vision to empower Ondo youths with the knowledge, skills and responsibility required for self-development and community development.
Akintunde Akinmolayan, Co-Founder and Executive Director of CAIS, an illustrious son of Ondo Kingdom and a proud member of EYC, expressed strong optimism during his engagement with the leadership of EYC.
He emphasized that meaningful climate action begins when communities, stakeholders, and professional expertise work together toward a common goal.
In 2025, Akintunde and his team surveyed waste disposal and management practices in Ondo City.
The findings revealed critical gaps in public awareness and environmental responsibility, highlighting an urgent need to educate residents on the causes and effects of climate change.
The study reinforced the fact that the sustainability of our ecosystem depends largely on collective commitment and informed individual actions.
Under the leadership of Comrade Famakinwa Lucaskakaki, EYC mobilised over 200 youths across Ondo for a climate sensitisation workshop last year.
The programme was designed not only to educate participants but also to encourage active engagement and solution-driven discussions around environmental challenges.
At its conclusion, participating youths confidently shared insights gained from the sessions and proposed practical, community-focused solutions to waste management and environmental control.
Their responses demonstrated that when youths are properly informed, they are capable of driving meaningful and sustainable change.
In furtherance of its mission to lessen the effects of climate change, CAIS has extended its sensitisation efforts to the airwaves through a weekly radio programme on Eki 100.9FM.
The programme features CAIS executives alongside stakeholders such as Ekimogun Youths Connect, ensuring that climate education reaches a wider audience across Ondo State.
The first edition of the radio programme for 2026 airs on Thursday, 8th January 2026, on Eki 100.9FM, and EYC will be duly represented.
